MLPerf laser system is mainly used by two customer groups: Film manufacturers or film converters and directly by customers from the food industry who use our laser systems on packaging machines.

Fresh foods such as fruit and vegetables often have a long journey before reaching the customer. In the packaging industry for example the following methods and products are used:

  • Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP),
  • Easy Ventilation or
  • Breathable Film

Application

  • Perforation of mono films
  • Perforation of recycled / recyclable plastics (PE, PET, PP, etc.)
  • Perforation of laminated films
  • Perforation of outer packaging during the packaging process (laser module solution).
  • Perforation of many other packaging materials (e.g. paper, cardboard, PE)
  • Special applications in the pharmaceutical and automotive industries for ventilated packaging solutions

Product Features

  • High-quality laser perforation is the main area of application - but flexible scoring, cutting of paper types, cardboard, mono films or laminated films can also be optionally combined.

Comparison

Typical materials:
Mono and composite films (OPP, PE, PE-LD, PET, CPP, EVA, PLA), paper and cardboard.

Number of laser sources per system:
1 to 18 - usually between 4 to 10.

Power of the laser sources:
30 Watt to 1000 Watt per source - usually between 60 and 120 Watt per laser.

Typical integration:
In slitter rewinders, winders.

Typical hole sizes:
80µm to 900µm - depending on the material, both smaller and larger holes are possible.

Speeds:
Typical industrial speeds range from 80m/min up to 400m/min. In special applications over 700m/min are realised.

Web widths:
250mm to 2000mm (larger web widths are usually possible).

Type of laser source:
CO2 laser.
